What our customers say
“I wish I could give them more than 5 ⭐️ I cannot say enough good things about this company. Lawton and Tiffany are the best! While their specialty is working and doing custom builds on Jeeps, they sure do know there way around other vehicles as well. I brought in my 2010 Subaru for a once over, they were very up front with what I needed and didn’t try to just make a quick buck off me. They are very thorough. They always kept me updated on the process of my repairs and answered any question I had. I will bring any vehicle I have in the future to them. In a world where companies try to rip people off, it’s a breath of fresh air to find a family owned business where they test you like family! THANKS AGAIN LAWTON AND TIFFANY!”View on Google
“Superior helped us with an oil cooler repair & spark plug replacement that a dealership was trying to charge us a fortune for. Fair prices, quality work, and excellent communication. I have been recommending them to anyone who needs something done!!”View on Google
“Best in the business! These guys are incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to Jeeps, but they do top-notch work on all cars and trucks too. Honest, skilled, and fast—highly recommend!”View on Google
“Definitely take your Jeep or any vehicle for that fact here. They are very dedicated to make sure your vehicle is fixed and fixed correctly. They are great giving updates everyday and if you have any questions they will clearly explain or even put your vehicle up on the lift and walk you through what’s going on.”View on Google
“Honest and quality work! Lawton and his crew go above and beyond for their customers! Highly recommend for all your mechanical and tire needs!”View on Google
“About a month ago, my new to me Wrangler JLU developed a true death wobble. I called multiple shops, and was feeling defeated, then reached out to Superior. With Lawton and the team at Superior Auto & Offroad. They diagnosed my Jeep's death wobble the right way instead of just throwing parts at it. Lawton took the time to test drive it, explain exactly what was wrong, and only recommended what actually needed to be fixed. Fair pricing, honest advice, and excellent workmanship. My Wrangler has since completed a 4-day road trip and multiple trails without a single issue. They've earned my business for the long haul. Highly recommend.”View on Google
“The entire crew at Superior Offroad was incredible to work with. Their professionalism, communication, and commitment to surpassing their customer’s expectations is second to none. I met with multiple shops during the research phase of my upgrades, and none went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I wanted for my Jeep like Lawton and Tiff did. The work was thorough, on time, and very fairly and competitively priced. This shop is 100% worth the hour+ drive I make from south Tampa, and I would highly recommend Superior Offroad to anyone thinking of upgrades or service to their vehicle.”View on Google

“It’s in the name. Superior knowledge on how to build your Jeep to real off-roading capabilities. They’ll do mall crawlers and pavement princesses too but there’s plenty of other shops out there that that’s all they’re good for. Well, not really, you’ll end up having to go to Superior to fix their mistakes. Lol. Also, great at diagnosing engine issues and all things suspension/steering. The best in the Tampa/central Florida area bar none. Don’t waste your time or $ anywhere else.”View on Google
“I had to have my jeep towed to their shop on a weekend. Their team contacted me early Monday and kept me updated on the diagnostics. Within less than a week, they completed not only a ton of front end work we had already planned on, but …”Read the full review on Google

“I can’t say enough great things about Superior Off-Road! They took my Jeep to the next level by installing a lift and adding some beastly 42-inch tires. Not only does it look absolutely amazing, but the ride is smoother and more capable than ever. They also went above and beyond with their service and made sure everything was perfect. If you’re looking to upgrade your off-road vehicle, these are the folks to trust. Thanks again, Superior Off-Road!”View on Google

Services
Complete auto repair services
Diagnostics & check engine light
A trouble code tells us which system flagged a fault, not which part failed. We use the code as a starting point, then test sensors, wiring, vacuum, fuel and ignition components to confirm the cause. The same careful approach applies to noises, leaks, vibrations and drivability complaints, so the repair fixes the actual problem.
Oil changes & preventive maintenance
Oil and filter service using the viscosity and specification your vehicle calls for, along with fluid checks, filter replacement and inspections. We follow your manufacturer’s schedule and consider how you drive, whether that’s short trips around town, a daily I-4 commute or towing, so maintenance matches the real demands on your vehicle.
Brake repair
Complete brake inspections that measure pad thickness and rotor condition and check calipers, hoses, lines and fluid. We replace pads, rotors, calipers and hydraulic parts as needed with components that meet or exceed OE standards, and we explain what’s worn, what’s still serviceable and what can safely wait.
A/C, cooling & battery service
A/C performance testing, leak detection and component repair, along with battery and charging system tests that tell a weak battery apart from a failing alternator. We also inspect radiators, hoses, water pumps and thermostats, because the cooling system works hardest in Florida heat and overheating can cause serious engine damage.
Engine & driveline repair
Diagnosis and repair for rough running, loss of power, oil leaks, overheating and other engine concerns, plus transmission, differential, transfer case, axle and driveshaft problems. Whether you drive a front-wheel-drive sedan, a rear-wheel-drive truck or a 4x4, we track down the cause of clunks, whines, vibrations and shifting issues before recommending a repair.
Suspension, steering, wheels & tires
Inspection and replacement of shocks, struts, ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings and wheel bearings, along with alignment and tire service. Worn steering and suspension parts affect handling, braking and tire life. For lifted and modified vehicles, every lift and suspension installation is followed by an alignment.
Warning signs
Common problems we diagnose and repair
- Check engine or other dashboard warning lights
- Grinding, squealing or clunking noises
- Fluid leaks under the vehicle
- Vibration at speed or when braking
- Hard starting or a weak battery
- A/C blowing warm air
- Pulling to one side or uneven tire wear
If you notice any of these, call the shop or book an inspection.

We explain what we found, what should be handled now, and what can be planned for later.

From commuters to fleet trucks and off-road builds, the repair plan fits how you use the vehicle.
Quality parts & careful work
Dependable parts, proven repair practices, and a final inspection before your vehicle leaves.
What to expect at your appointment
Every repair starts with listening. When you drop off your vehicle, tell us what you’ve noticed: when the noise happens, whether a warning light is steady or flashing, and whether the problem shows up cold, hot, at highway speed or only in traffic. Those details point the inspection in the right direction. If you book online, you can choose from live appointment times and add notes about the concern so we know what to look for.
Once we’ve inspected and tested your vehicle, we contact you with what we found, what we recommend and why. You’ll hear which repairs affect safety or reliability now and which ones can be planned for a later visit. Nothing moves forward until you approve it. While the work is underway, we keep you updated, and if we find something unexpected, we stop and explain it before going any further.
How Florida driving wears on your vehicle
Driving in central Florida puts a specific kind of stress on a vehicle. Summer heat raises under-hood temperatures, which ages rubber hoses, belts, gaskets and wiring insulation faster than in cooler climates. Batteries lose life sooner, cooling systems work harder, and the A/C runs nearly year-round. Stop-and-go traffic on I-4, US-98 and around town adds heat cycles and brake wear that an open-highway commute would not.
Afternoon storms bring their own problems. Standing water on low roads can reach wheel bearings, brake parts and electrical connectors, and humidity encourages corrosion on battery terminals and ground connections. Sand and grit work their way into suspension joints and brake hardware. None of this means your vehicle will fail early, but it does mean regular inspections catch wear sooner. A cracked hose found during a visit is far easier to handle than a breakdown on the shoulder.
What’s urgent and what can wait
Some symptoms mean you should stop driving and call. A flashing check engine light usually signals an active misfire that can overheat and damage the catalytic converter. A temperature gauge climbing toward hot, a brake pedal that sinks toward the floor, smoke or a burning smell from under the hood, and a red oil pressure warning all deserve immediate attention. Continuing to drive can turn a manageable repair into a major one.
Other concerns are worth scheduling soon but are not emergencies. A steady check engine light, a slow oil seep, a light squeal from the brakes or a slight pull on the highway should be inspected, but you usually have time to book an appointment that fits your week. When we inspect your vehicle, we sort our findings the same way, so you can plan repairs and budget for them without surprises.
FAQ
General auto repair FAQs
What types of vehicles do you repair?
All makes and models, domestic and import: cars, trucks, SUVs, vans and Jeeps. Call with your year, make, model and concern if you have questions.
Can you diagnose a check engine light?
Yes. We combine code scanning with testing and inspection to identify the cause before recommending a repair.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are recommended so we can plan time for inspection and service. Use the booking page or call 863-445-4596.
Do you serve drivers outside Lakeland?
Yes. Customers come to us from across Lakeland, the surrounding area and beyond, including Tampa, as well as Lakeland and communities throughout Polk County.
Will you contact me before doing any work?
Yes. After we inspect your vehicle, we explain what we found, what we recommend and which items matter most. No work moves forward until you approve it. If something unexpected turns up during a repair, we stop and contact you before adding anything to the job, so you always know where things stand.
Can I bring my own parts?
No. We don’t install customer-supplied parts. Sourcing parts ourselves lets us confirm the correct fit and quality for your vehicle, and we use parts that meet or exceed OE standards. If you have a specific brand or part in mind, mention it when you book and we can talk through the options.
Is it safe to keep driving with the check engine light on?
It depends on how the light is behaving. A flashing light usually means an active misfire, so reduce driving and have it checked promptly to avoid catalytic converter damage. A steady light is less urgent but still worth diagnosing soon, since small faults can hurt fuel economy and lead to bigger problems if ignored.
