“I wish I could give them more than 5 ⭐️ I cannot say enough good things about this company. Lawton and Tiffany are the best! While their specialty is working and doing custom builds on Jeeps, they sure do know there way around other vehicles as well. I brought in my 2010 Subaru for a once over, they were very up front with what I needed and didn’t try to just make a quick buck off me. They are very thorough. They always kept me updated on the process of my repairs and answered any question I had. I will bring any vehicle I have in the future to them. In a world where companies try to rip people off, it’s a breath of fresh air to find a family owned business where they test you like family! THANKS AGAIN LAWTON AND TIFFANY!”

“About a month ago, my new to me Wrangler JLU developed a true death wobble. I called multiple shops, and was feeling defeated, then reached out to Superior. With Lawton and the team at Superior Auto & Offroad. They diagnosed my Jeep's death wobble the right way instead of just throwing parts at it. Lawton took the time to test drive it, explain exactly what was wrong, and only recommended what actually needed to be fixed. Fair pricing, honest advice, and excellent workmanship. My Wrangler has since completed a 4-day road trip and multiple trails without a single issue. They've earned my business for the long haul. Highly recommend.”

“The entire crew at Superior Offroad was incredible to work with. Their professionalism, communication, and commitment to surpassing their customer’s expectations is second to none. I met with multiple shops during the research phase of my upgrades, and none went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I wanted for my Jeep like Lawton and Tiff did. The work was thorough, on time, and very fairly and competitively priced. This shop is 100% worth the hour+ drive I make from south Tampa, and I would highly recommend Superior Offroad to anyone thinking of upgrades or service to their vehicle.”

“It’s in the name. Superior knowledge on how to build your Jeep to real off-roading capabilities. They’ll do mall crawlers and pavement princesses too but there’s plenty of other shops out there that that’s all they’re good for. Well, not really, you’ll end up having to go to Superior to fix their mistakes. Lol. Also, great at diagnosing engine issues and all things suspension/steering. The best in the Tampa/central Florida area bar none. Don’t waste your time or $ anywhere else.”

“I can’t say enough great things about Superior Off-Road! They took my Jeep to the next level by installing a lift and adding some beastly 42-inch tires. Not only does it look absolutely amazing, but the ride is smoother and more capable than ever. They also went above and beyond with their service and made sure everything was perfect. If you’re looking to upgrade your off-road vehicle, these are the folks to trust. Thanks again, Superior Off-Road!”

Services

Jeep services we offer

Maintenance & repair

Oil changes and factory maintenance, brakes, cooling system service and electrical diagnostics for every Jeep we work on. We follow the maintenance schedule for how you actually drive, including severe service intervals for Jeeps that tow, idle in heat or go off-road, and we explain what is due and why.

Suspension & steering

We track down death wobble, wandering and loose steering by checking track bars, tie rods, ball joints, bushings and the steering box. Repairs can include heavy-duty steering components and adjustable track bars, followed by an alignment so your Jeep tracks straight and feels planted at highway speed.

Drivetrain & differentials

Differential, transfer case and axle service and repair, including fluid changes, seal and bearing work, and checks for water contamination after deep crossings. We also diagnose clunks, whines and vibrations that point to worn U-joints, driveshaft angle problems or gear wear, and explain what we find before repairs.

Lift & leveling kits

Leveling kits and full suspension lifts for Wranglers, Gladiators and other Jeeps, installed with the supporting parts they need. Every lift and suspension job gets a post-installation alignment, and we correct driveline angles and steering geometry so the Jeep drives well on the street and works on the trail.

Wheels & tires

Stock replacements to oversized all-terrain and mud-terrain tires, mounted, balanced and aligned. We help you pick a size that fits your lift and gearing, check for rubbing at full turn and compression, and talk through how bigger tires affect braking, acceleration and speedometer accuracy.

Armor, accessories & build planning

Bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates, winches, lighting and other accessories, installed with proper mounting and clean wiring. If you’re planning a bigger build, we’ll help map out the order of upgrades so parts work together and you don’t end up replacing something you just bought.

Warning signs

Built for daily drivers and weekend trails

  • Daily-driven Jeeps that need dependable maintenance
  • Weekend trail rigs that need stronger components
  • Built Jeeps that need experienced hands, not experimentation

Not every Jeep is a rock crawler, and not every shop understands that balance. If your Jeep matters to you, it matters to us.

Common issues we see by generation

Each Wrangler generation has its own patterns. On TJs, age is the big factor: worn steering parts, tired bushings, and frame corrosion that deserves a careful look. JK owners often deal with front end wear, oil leaks around the 3.6-liter Pentastar’s oil filter housing and cooler, and electrical quirks. JLs and Gladiators are newer but still see steering and suspension wear, especially once larger tires go on. Knowing these patterns helps us diagnose faster and more accurately.

Death wobble is the issue Jeep owners ask about most. It’s a violent shake in the front end, usually triggered by a bump at speed, and it’s common to solid-axle Wranglers and Gladiators. The cause is almost always looseness somewhere: track bar bushings or mounting bolts, tie rod ends, ball joints, or control arm bushings, sometimes made worse by low caster after a lift. A steering stabilizer can mask it, but it doesn’t fix it.

Maintenance for Jeeps that see water and mud

Water crossings and mud are part of the fun, but they’re hard on parts. Axles and transfer cases breathe through vent tubes, and water can get pulled in when hot components hit cold water. Milky or foamy gear oil is the sign. If your Jeep has been in deep water, have the differentials and transfer case checked and changed if needed. Water left in gear oil breaks down lubrication and can ruin bearings and gears.

Mud and sand cause trouble too. Packed mud holds moisture against the frame and brake parts, throws wheels out of balance, and can clog radiators and condensers, which matters in Florida heat. Rinse the undercarriage after a trail day, check the air filter, and keep an eye on brake pads and rotors. Following the severe service schedule in your owner’s manual is a smart baseline for any Jeep that goes off pavement regularly.

Daily driver or trail rig: service that fits

A Jeep that commutes to work every day needs dependable maintenance more than anything else: regular oil changes, cooling system care, good brakes and tires rotated on schedule. Many Wranglers that never leave pavement still benefit from attention to the front end, since solid axles and heavier aftermarket tires can wear steering components faster than you might expect. Catching that wear early keeps the drive comfortable and safe.

A dedicated trail rig has different priorities. Stronger axles, armor, gearing and recovery points matter more, and inspections after each trip help catch damage before it becomes a breakdown. Many Jeeps around Lakeland live somewhere in between, driven during the week and taken out on weekends. We’ll help you find the right balance and explain your options so the money goes where it actually helps your Jeep.

FAQ

Jeep service FAQs

Which Jeep models do you service?

Most Jeeps, including Wrangler TJ, JK, JL and JLU, Gladiator JT, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass and Renegade.

Can you fix death wobble?

Yes. We inspect the steering and suspension to find the worn or loose components causing it, then repair and align.

Do you install lift kits on Jeeps?

Yes, from leveling kits to full suspension systems, with alignment and driveline correction.

Can I supply my own parts?

We don’t install customer-supplied parts. This keeps fitment, reliability and warranty coverage on track.

Why is the gear oil in my Jeep’s differential milky?

Milky or foamy gear oil usually means water has gotten in, often through the axle vent after a deep water crossing or driving through flooded roads. Water breaks down the oil’s ability to protect gears and bearings. Have the fluid changed soon and the seals and vents checked so the problem doesn’t come back on your next trip.

Will a steering stabilizer fix death wobble?

No. A stabilizer can dampen the shake and make it less frequent, but the cause is usually a worn or loose part like a track bar, tie rod end, ball joint or bushing. Replacing the stabilizer alone can hide the problem while the wear gets worse. We inspect the front end to find the real cause and repair it properly.

How often should my Jeep’s differentials and transfer case be serviced?

Check the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual, since intervals vary by model and year. If you tow, drive off-road, run larger tires or go through water, the severe service schedule usually applies and fluids should be changed more often. We can inspect the fluid condition and tell you honestly whether a change is due.
