What our customers say
“I wish I could give them more than 5 ⭐️ I cannot say enough good things about this company. Lawton and Tiffany are the best! While their specialty is working and doing custom builds on Jeeps, they sure do know there way around other vehicles as well. I brought in my 2010 Subaru for a once over, they were very up front with what I needed and didn’t try to just make a quick buck off me. They are very thorough. They always kept me updated on the process of my repairs and answered any question I had. I will bring any vehicle I have in the future to them. In a world where companies try to rip people off, it’s a breath of fresh air to find a family owned business where they test you like family! THANKS AGAIN LAWTON AND TIFFANY!”View on Google
“Superior helped us with an oil cooler repair & spark plug replacement that a dealership was trying to charge us a fortune for. Fair prices, quality work, and excellent communication. I have been recommending them to anyone who needs something done!!”View on Google
“Best in the business! These guys are incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to Jeeps, but they do top-notch work on all cars and trucks too. Honest, skilled, and fast—highly recommend!”View on Google
“Definitely take your Jeep or any vehicle for that fact here. They are very dedicated to make sure your vehicle is fixed and fixed correctly. They are great giving updates everyday and if you have any questions they will clearly explain or even put your vehicle up on the lift and walk you through what’s going on.”View on Google
“Honest and quality work! Lawton and his crew go above and beyond for their customers! Highly recommend for all your mechanical and tire needs!”View on Google
“About a month ago, my new to me Wrangler JLU developed a true death wobble. I called multiple shops, and was feeling defeated, then reached out to Superior. With Lawton and the team at Superior Auto & Offroad. They diagnosed my Jeep's death wobble the right way instead of just throwing parts at it. Lawton took the time to test drive it, explain exactly what was wrong, and only recommended what actually needed to be fixed. Fair pricing, honest advice, and excellent workmanship. My Wrangler has since completed a 4-day road trip and multiple trails without a single issue. They've earned my business for the long haul. Highly recommend.”View on Google
“The entire crew at Superior Offroad was incredible to work with. Their professionalism, communication, and commitment to surpassing their customer’s expectations is second to none. I met with multiple shops during the research phase of my upgrades, and none went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I wanted for my Jeep like Lawton and Tiff did. The work was thorough, on time, and very fairly and competitively priced. This shop is 100% worth the hour+ drive I make from south Tampa, and I would highly recommend Superior Offroad to anyone thinking of upgrades or service to their vehicle.”View on Google

“It’s in the name. Superior knowledge on how to build your Jeep to real off-roading capabilities. They’ll do mall crawlers and pavement princesses too but there’s plenty of other shops out there that that’s all they’re good for. Well, not really, you’ll end up having to go to Superior to fix their mistakes. Lol. Also, great at diagnosing engine issues and all things suspension/steering. The best in the Tampa/central Florida area bar none. Don’t waste your time or $ anywhere else.”View on Google

“I can’t say enough great things about Superior Off-Road! They took my Jeep to the next level by installing a lift and adding some beastly 42-inch tires. Not only does it look absolutely amazing, but the ride is smoother and more capable than ever. They also went above and beyond with their service and made sure everything was perfect. If you’re looking to upgrade your off-road vehicle, these are the folks to trust. Thanks again, Superior Off-Road!”View on Google

Services
Suspension & steering services
Alignment
We measure camber, caster and toe and adjust them to spec where your vehicle allows, so it tracks straight and wears tires evenly. We align cars, trucks, SUVs and vans at stock height, and lifted or leveled vehicles get their geometry set for the new ride height and tire size.
Steering system repair
We inspect and replace inner and outer tie rods, ball joints, idler and pitman arms, steering racks, steering boxes and power steering pumps and hoses. Loose or leaking steering parts affect control and tire wear, so we explain what is worn and what can wait before any work starts.
Shocks & struts
Worn shocks and struts let the body bounce, lean and dive, which affects braking, cornering and how well the tires stay planted. We replace them with quality parts that meet or exceed OE standards, or with upgraded dampers for towing, heavy loads, lifted vehicles and off-road use.
Suspension diagnostics
We road test the vehicle, inspect bushings, joints, springs, mounts and bearings on the lift, and read tire wear patterns to track down bouncing, sagging, clunks and pulling. You get a clear explanation of the cause and your options before we recommend any repair.
Warning signs
Common suspension & steering problems we fix
- Wandering or loose steering
- Clunking over bumps
- Excessive bouncing or nose-diving
- Uneven tire wear
- Death wobble on solid-axle Jeeps and trucks
- The vehicle sits lower on one corner
If you notice any of these, call the shop or book an inspection.

How we diagnose suspension and steering problems
Clunks, wander and uneven tire wear can have several causes, so we start with a road test that reproduces what you feel. Then we inspect the vehicle on a lift, checking tie rod ends, ball joints, control arm bushings, sway bar links, wheel bearings, springs, shocks and struts. Tire wear patterns tell us a lot, too, because they record how the wheels have been tracking for thousands of miles.
Once we know the cause, we explain what is worn, what is still in good shape and which repairs matter most for safety. Some problems, like a loose ball joint or tie rod end, should be fixed right away. Others, like a shock showing light seepage, can often be planned for. You decide what to do and when, and we keep you updated as the work moves along.
What local roads do to your suspension
Local driving mixes smooth highway with patched pavement, railroad crossings, sandy shoulders and dirt drives. Each hard hit sends a jolt through bushings, ball joints and tie rods. Heat and humidity add to the wear by drying out rubber bushings and boots over time, and once a boot tears, grit and water get into the joint and speed up wear. Summer storms can also hide potholes under standing water.
Stop-and-go traffic on I-4 and US-98 loads the front suspension every time you brake hard, and worn shocks and struts let the nose dive further, which can lengthen stopping distances. If your vehicle feels floaty over dips, leans more in turns or takes longer to settle after a bump, it’s worth an inspection before your next long drive or before you load up for a trip.
Lifted trucks, Jeeps and everyday vehicles
Raising a truck, Jeep or SUV changes caster, toe and driveshaft angles, and larger tires put more leverage on tie rods, ball joints and steering boxes. We set geometry back within range, recommend heavier steering parts where the tire size calls for it, and finish every lift and suspension job with an alignment so the vehicle tracks straight and feels settled on the highway, not just on the trail.
Cars, minivans and crossovers need the same attention, just with different parts. Many use strut assemblies and rack-and-pinion steering, and worn strut mounts or inner tie rods can cause clunks and wander. Solid front axle vehicles have their own wear points, such as track bar bushings. Whatever you drive, domestic or import, we use quality parts that meet or exceed OE standards.
FAQ
Suspension & steering FAQs
What causes death wobble?
Worn or loose steering and suspension parts, often on solid-axle Jeeps and trucks. We inspect the front end to find and fix the cause.
Do I need an alignment after a lift?
Yes. We include post-installation alignment on all lift and suspension work.
How do I know my shocks are worn?
Excess bouncing, nose-diving when braking, and uneven tire wear are common signs.
Why does my vehicle pull to one side?
A pull can come from an alignment that has drifted, uneven tire pressure, a tire with internal damage, a sticking brake caliper or worn suspension parts. We check pressures and tires first, then inspect the brakes and front end and measure the alignment, so the repair targets the actual cause instead of a guess.
Is a clunking noise over bumps dangerous?
It can be. Clunks often come from worn sway bar links or bushings, which are usually not urgent. They can also point to a loose ball joint or tie rod, which affects steering control. Because the sound alone doesn’t tell you which part is at fault, have it inspected soon and avoid hard driving until you know.
How often should I have my alignment checked?
Many owners have it checked once a year or whenever they install new tires. Check it sooner if you hit a large pothole or curb, replace steering or suspension parts, lift or level the vehicle, or notice pulling, an off-center steering wheel or uneven tire wear.
